Binding & Backing

How to miter the corners on your quilt once you fold the binding to the back – excellent pictures!  scroll down about halfway!

Close-up pictures of how to hand-stitch the binding to the quilt back – such helpful, excellent pictures!

Excellent tutorial to make your own binding (I used 2.5″ strips) and I also followed her technique of using a few extra stitches on top of each other to secure the pretty mitered corner.  I very much liked starting sewing the binding down 1/4″ from the edge and sewing all the way down until 1/4″ from the edge — it helped make the corner easier to turn to the back.

Tutorial for quilt binding, but what I found most helpful was her tip to trim the seam allowance a bit at the mitered corner (scroll down a little more than halfway)

Fons & Porter Binding Tool tutorial — the missing step from the instructions!

awesome “cheater” method for quilt binding! – works well on small items like hotpads (you might need to scroll down)
