Book Review

I had high hopes for The Man Who Made Lists as I love to read and enjoy quirky non-fiction about books and language — such as The Professor and the Madman (highly recommend!).  Sigh.  TMWML was such a bore.  The book was barely 300 pages yet it felt like 1,000.  I kept slugging on, thinking at some point it would get exciting, I mean as exciting as a word nerd book can get.  The title is sort of misleading, I really feel this book is more of a biography about Roget rather than any kind of extended discussion about his thesaurus.  Unfortunately, I do not recommend this book.  Thankfully it was purchased from Edward Hamilton Bookseller (see sidebar) at an inexpensive price, probably $5.

  1. It’s always a downer to log through book waiting for that point where it surely must pick up and it never comes. One reason why I love my library card!
