For the past three Sundays in a row, my hubby & I have made cookies from scratch. It’s a nice quiet Sunday activity to do together and then of course there are lots of cookies for the week!
I ♥ Cook’s Country magazine and I finally subscribed! The sugar cookie recipe is from their Test Kitchen and the chocolate chip cookie recipe is from their Cook’s Country cookbook — which we have and everything we have made from it has turned out fantastic — and darn, it seems that it is out-of-print now? I forgot to take pictures of the Peanut Butter cookies we made, but the recipe came from the JIF website, this one I think.
Here’s a link to the chewy sugar cookie recipe. We used our OXO #40 cookie scoop and got 2 dozen cookies!

Thick & Chewy Chocolate Chip recipe from Cook’s Country Cookbook — however using google I found a link here. We used a #40 OXO cookie scoop and got 30 nice, big cookies! I’d like to add that we only use un-bleached flour, used 1-1/2 cups of semi-sweet chips (mini size), we only baked 1 sheet at a time and we used the lower middle oven rack, and we let the cookies rest for a few minutes on the cookie sheet rather that the 10 minutes the recipe calls for.

Oh B! You are killing me here!!!! Now I want cookies!!!!
They look sooo delicious…. I love chewy cookies.
On the chewy barometer … how chewy?
For now, I think a cream cheese and cherry jam bagel will do.
*sigh*
They aren’t super chewy, it’s hard to explain, they definitely aren’t crisp. The recipe is fairly easy to throw together, although I’m not sure what changes you would need to make to make it gluten-free for your dd.
