New Embroidery with Vintage Pattern Stitch Along for February

Hurray that my stitchy mojo continues to stay with me!  I chose the “wild & wacky” theme for this month’s stitch along.  And I love how it came out!  This is from Vogart 207.

Floss:  2 strands of DMC
Stitches used:  backstitch, satin stitch, french knots, lazy daisies, outline stitch, straight stitch

Full view, stitched on a tea towel (I ♥ Aunt Martha brand sized 28″ x 28″)

Cute  face

I see you!  Better wash your hands before you leave the bathroom!

Close-up of french knots and lazy daisies.  As a side note, I did not use the blanket stitch for the stitchy bottom of the towel’s hem.  I actually just straight stitched the fringe, and then used the outline stitch for the entire towel.  I thought if I used the blanket stitch on the bottom and used the outline stitch for the rest of the towel it might have looked a bit odd.  Who knows.  Maybe I was thinking about it too much!

  1. This is really cute! Great job!

  2. Adorable design, I love it! : )

  3. This is sooooo cute.

  4. I think you were right about the fringe actually. Your eyes came out great. Eyes can be tricky. The towel you are stitching on looks like a pretty tight weave. How nice.

  5. She’s so cute!!! I agree with Mom Wald, the eyes turned out great.

  6. This is the cutest!!! Love it!!! Your choice of stitches and colors are perfect!!! I may have to stitch this in the future , and it so happens that I think I have a copy of this vogart 207 I purchased few years ago from Pattern Bee (when dd was about 2 or 3 y. old she was into flamingoes and this set has a couple of flamingoes in it).

  7. thanks everyone for the positive feedback!

@Mom Wald – I’m stitching on an Aunt Martha (aka Colonial Patterns) flour sack towel. Love them!
