Almost done!

Oh, sigh, hubby is doing such a terrific job with the hallway/bedroom hardwood flooring project.  He’s almost done!  Since hubby took these pics yesterday afternoon, he has done a second coat of paint on the walls.  The paint on the walls (see bottom photo) is called “white pine” but it is more of a nice, soft, light, creamy yellow color.  Hubby says it reminds him of eggnog.  Today hubby just needs to freshen up the trim by re-painting it white and then I think we’ll be ready to move our bed back into our bedroom later this evening.  I look forward to putting the house back together this weekend and hopefully doing some sewing!  Last night, I ordered some fabric from Hawthorne threads because of course Benjamin will need a dog bed for the bedroom now since the floors will be hard against his body.  He is so spoiled!  I ordered one yard of gingham in blue and one yard of gingham in green (I couldn’t make up my mind between the two, so now his bed can be reversible) from Sheri Berry’s Mod Tod fabric collection — coincidentally on sale, yay!

  1. What a bright pretty room, LOVE the floors. Nothing wrong at all with spoiling the pets, I always tell my husband it’s not like they have to go out in the world and take care of themselves, I’m going to spoil them forever. :)

  2. That’s some seriously gorgeous flooring, Bethie! Your hubby did an impressive job :-) .

    Love the paint color, too.

Do you put a zipper in the dog bed cover? Our dogs, when they were puppies. chewed up the zipper of their dog bed cover one day. Every time I wash the cover, I think to myself that I should replace the zipper (you know, because I so LOVE sewing . . . not!). Now I’m thinking it might be much easier to sew in some velcro tape in place of the zipper. Whatcha think?

  3. @barncat1, thanks for the compliment! and yes, Benjamin is spoiled. I know you have kitties but do you have any other pets that you spoil?

@glenda, thanks for the compliment too! I’ll be sure to pass the compliment along to hubby!

Benjamin’s other dog bed (bought at Target a long time ago) does have a zip top cover but he doesn’t mess with the zipper at all. I haven’t decided what type of closure to do for Benjamin’s new bed yet, I’m definitely not doing a zipper because I don’t even know if I’ll be able to find one long enough, so I’m thinking either buttonholes + buttons, hand sewing on large snaps, or velcro. I’m thinking velcro because it will be the quickest and plus I have a big pack because some reason with an order long ago from fabricshack.com they threw in a pack of velcro for free (they often give a freebie notion with your order).

  4. Lovely floors and walls :-) .. you must be sooo happy that everything is coming together so well! I bet Ben is happy to be able to cruise around the newly renovated space!

  5. [...] pants using Simplicity 2061.  I had cut out this pattern around the middle of January, but due to our hardwood floor project, sewing  got put off for a bit since the house was so disorganized!  I am happy to report that [...]
