Keeping it Weird on Wednesday

Due to all the unexpected heavy rain we’ve received, my allergy season has lasted longer than usual since all the rain caused things to bloom and/or re-bloom.  The most uncomfortable part of my allergies are dry, itchy red eyes — my OTC drops are pretty good but you know they can only do so much.  Lately I’ve been taking notice of my co-workers’ eyes.  One of my co-workers seems not to suffer from allergies at all and the whites of her eyes are so pretty and clear that they remind me of big, white hard-boiled eggs.

  1. My sister has to deal with allergies and all that goes with them, I feel for you!

  2. I’ve always had bloodshot eyes! For many years, it was because of the dryness that comes with wearing contacts. I quit wearing contacts a couple years ago and I’ll be darned if I still don’t battle red eyes — dryness, allergies, blah blah blah.

I was staring at my son’s eyes last week, amazed at how white the white part of his eyes are. Were mine ever that way???

  3. @Lisa, Yes allergies are no fun :( My husband is lucky, he rarely suffers from them.

@glenda. Ah, I’m glad I’m not the only one! It is a relief to know I’m not the only one with this issue.

I don’t wear contacts so my dry eyes aren’t from that, but I appreciate the tip. Sorry to hear that you still have the red dry eyes after not wearing contacts anymore.

About a year ago, my eye doctor told me that I have blepharitis — which is basically like having teeny tiny tiny dandruff on your eyelashes. The “dandruff” or eye crusties can get into your eyes and irritate them and cause redness. I wonder if you have that? Thre really is no fixie, but I wash my eyes & lashes a couple of times a day to keep it in check. For me, the blepharitis comes and goes, but I’ll probably go back and see my eye doctor at some point just to check in, and also, cuz you know, I’m a worrier.
