A big thanks to shawnlorette on flickr for sharing this vintage pattern set in the hoop love group on flickr. A big thanks to all who share on hoop love. Is it just me, or is the online stitchy community really kind and generous with advice, encouragement, and sharing?
I can’t promise too many updates to this WIP. I’ve been way more bookish lately than stitchy. I transferred this pattern 2 weeks ago but only today felt the itch to embroider. I’m in no rush to finish — especially since I might actually have to set this WIP aside at some point to begin making/embroidering/sewing Christmas gifties.

I’m not going to have as much embroidery progress to blog due to gifting – but will have a lot to show afterwards! I love the patterns on Hoop Love – the variety and quality of patterns on there is amazing. And I agree – the online stitchy community is so helpful! No egos, just glad to share advice or admiration. I’ve found that to be true both on flickr and Hand Embroidery Network. Answers to questions are generally just a discussion away, and there’s such a diversity of experience on there. Stitchy folks rule!
yes, I’m a bit concerned about my holiday gifties, last year I started in september and i finished the beginning of december and this year i haven’t even started yet!!! but i have a sewing machine now so perhaps more gifts will be sewn this year than hand embroidered….
what is the hand embroidery network? i’ve sadly never heard of it? it is like craftster?
I’m not on craftster that much, so it’s hard for me to compare – imagine a craftster solely dedicated to hand embroidery and that would be a close approximation.
The community is here: http://handembroidery.ning.com/
They have a blog here: http://handembroiderynetwork.blogspot.com/
and are about the release a free online magazine.
I do wish I knew how to sew – I’d love to make some totes and other things. Someday…
Mrs. Apple will look great when she’s done, but stitching is no fun when it’s forced, read away!
Mrs. Apple is really enjoying cleaning up her kitchen !!!
I do too, in fact , after organizing my craft closet cleaning the kitchen is my other fav. house chore !!!
@tnemily, thanks for the linkies, will check them out!
@lisa, yes i’ve been more into reading lately than stitching but that will change soon once i start all the holiday gifties
@m1b, yes i do like organizing and tidying up closets, bookcases, filing cabinets, etc…. i don’t know if i have a favorite household chore, cleaning the kitchen is definitely way better than the bathroom!
