Our kitchen is a project in progress. Yesterday, Jason removed the cabinet next to our stove so he could level it and rebuild the drawer. When Jason removed the old cabinet, we found old treasure: a coupon, with no expiration date, for Lipton tea as well as a few photographs.
One was a Polaroid of a woman in a hospital bed, wearing over-sized glasses, holding a newborn baby. 3 of the photos were wallet sized and 2 of them have the Olan Mills logo on them. One is of a little baby wearing a t-shirt a couple sizes too big with pink and blue animals on it. The other photo is inscribed to Aunt Sue and says Marcus 6 ½ and Kimberly 5 weeks. It is a posed portrait with Kimberly in a crib lined with a crocheted blanket with Marcus sitting next to her. The other wallet photo looks like Marcus, but he looks older and is posing solo, wearing a bright plaid short sleeve collared shirt with a navy blue tie and a big watch. The last photo is a 5×7 of a baby wearing a long sleeved red dress with tiny white polka dots. The dress has a white lace double ruffled hem along with a matching big white collar. She is in front of a lit up Christmas tree and roaring fire in a fire place. The background may be real or may be something a professional photographer inserted. The back of the photo says To Aunt Diane and Uncle Mort , Brittany Rena [last name withheld for privacy] 1989, 1 year old.
They are such sweet photos and much have been displayed on the back-splash of the counter that rises up to meet the wall. I suppose one good slam on the kitchen door must have sent them tumbling down.
